Objectives of Pragyan Bharati Scheme
The Government of Assam launched this scheme to encourage academic excellence and support higher education.

Discontinuation of the Free Scooty Scheme
According to the Assam Budget 2026–27, the Government has announced that 2026 will be the final year for the distribution of free scooters under the Dr. Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award.
From the next academic year, the Government plans to discontinue the scooter distribution scheme and utilize the allocated funds to strengthen and expand the Nijut Moina Scheme and Nijut Babu Scheme, allowing a larger number of deserving students to benefit from educational assistance.
