About The Program:

The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is a centralized online system run by the Indian government to make it easier for students to apply for different scholarships.
Assam, which is a state in India, provides various scholarships through this portal to help students from different backgrounds.

Types of Assam Scholarships on NSP:

Post-Matric Scholarship:
Eligibility: Students studying classes 11 and above in government or government-aided institutions.

Criteria: Must belong to a minority community, be a girl from a backward class, or be a disabled student.

Eligibility

To qualify for this scholarship, an applicant needs to meet these requirements:

  • Be a resident of Assam
  • Belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) group in the state
  • Be currently studying a course after completing high school in a recognized school, college, or university (as mentioned in the terms and conditions section)
  • Have passed high school or higher secondary exams from a recognized university or board
  • Have a combined annual income of not more than ₹2,50,000 from all sources for parents or guardians

Notes:

  • The institutions will decide the maximum age for admission to different classes.
  • Students who change from one subject to another, like from Science to Arts in Intermediate or from B.Com to B.A., are not eligible.
    This also includes changing from one subject to another in degree courses like B.A. to M.A.
  • Students enrolled in any post-matric or post-secondary course are eligible.
    This includes distance or online learning, but only when offered by Central or State Universities through distance or continuous education programs.
  • If a student gets two scholarships at the same time, they can choose one and inform the authorities through their institution head.

Benefits

The scholarship provides these benefits throughout the entire course:

  • Compulsory non-refundable fees, such as tuition fees as set by the state government’s fee rationalization committee
  • Academic allowance:

Notes:

  • Disabled students get an extra 10% on their allowance.
  • Students doing CA/ICWA/CS/ICFA are treated as day scholars for the purpose of academic allowance.
  • Students studying through distance/online methods are not eligible for academic allowances.
  • No scholarship will be given to students who have already received benefits from another scholarship.
    However, they can get free housing, grants, or other aid for things like books, equipment, and living expenses under this scheme.

Freeship Card:

  • According to the scheme, all eligible students can join institutions without paying tuition or hostel fees upfront.
    The state government will issue a freeship card to these students.
  • Students with a freeship card can start attending classes without paying right away.
    The fees will be paid directly from the scholarship funds to the institutions later.

Documents Required:

  • A passport-sized photo of the student
  • One attested copy of all academic records, including certificates, diplomas, and degrees
  • A valid caste certificate, signed by an authorized Revenue Officer (RO), at least a Tehsildar
  • An income certificate from the parent(s) or guardian(s) issued by the authorities as decided by the state government
  • A receipt for the previous year’s scholarship (if applicable)

How to Apply?

Eligible students can apply by following these steps:

Step 1: Click on the ‘Apply Now’ button.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Register’ button and fill in your details.
(Note: If you are already registered, log in using your email, mobile number, or Gmail.)
Step 3: Go to the ‘Students’ option on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click it.

Step 4: Click on the ‘Login’ button under the OTR option, as it is needed to apply for the scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

Step 5: Click on ‘New user?
Register yourself’ on the left-hand side of the dashboard.
Step 6: Read the information carefully, check the box, and click on ‘Next’.

Step 7: Enter a mobile number, captcha code, and OTP then submit to complete the registration.

Step 8: Fill in all required details and click on ‘Save & Register’ to finish the One-time registration (OTR) process.
(Note: This is a temporary number. Students must download the OTR mobile app for face authentication.)
Step 9: After successful registration, go to the ‘Apply for Scholarship’ option and click on ‘Login’.

Step 10: Choose the scholarship, fill in all required details, upload necessary documents, and submit.

Note: All applicants must enter correct information on the application form.
Once submitted, no changes can be made. Submitting more than one application will lead to disqualification.
