Eligibility Criteria for CTET 2026

The minimum qualifications are as prescribed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Candidates should verify details on the NCTE official website.

For Classes I–V (Primary Stage):

  • Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and passed/appearing in 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education

  • Senior Secondary with at least 45% marks and passed/appearing in 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (as per NCTE 2002 norms)
    OR
  • Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and passed/appearing in 4-year B.El.Ed.
    OR
  • Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and passed/appearing in 2-year Diploma in Special Education

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and B.Ed. (subject to NCTE’s bridge course requirement)

For Classes VI–VIII (Elementary Stage):

  • Graduation and passed/appearing in 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and B.Ed.
    OR
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and B.Ed. (as per NCTE norms)
    OR
  • Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.El.Ed. or B.A/B.Sc.Ed.
